Baskets of Hope
New Heights Charter School seniors Breanna Blodgett and Brittney Johnson recently put together May baskets for two pediatric cancer patients awaiting bone marrow transplants at the University of Minnesota. The baskets are part of the on-going "Baskets of Hope" project continued to honor the memory of Tartan High School student Aaron Fowler, who died of cancer in 2005. Aaron found joy in making baskets for fellow patients on the cancer ward and his spirit lives on with the hundreds of baskets donated by volunteers in the past few years (for more information, visit www.hopefloats foundation. org). Blodgett and Johnson are members of the STRIVE career exploration and mentorship program at New Heights, which is facilitated by the Lake Elmo Rotary Club. Purchases for the baskets were underwritten by the Rotary.
